Strange that it would have the power of 'halving' magic though. Does it work iteratively?
I wonder if Bacon's tree has anything to do with his book The Advancement of Learning, which was the basis for Diderot and d'Alembert's tree of knowledge.

#### The Advancement of Learning:
The Advancement of Learning (full title: Of the Proficience and Advancement of Learning, Divine and Human) is a 1605 book by Francis Bacon.
It inspired the taxonomic structure of the highly influential Encyclopédie by Jean le Rond d'Alembert and Denis Diderot.
The following passage from The Advancement of Learning was used as the foreword to a popular Cambridge textbook:

Edit: and regarding time turners Maybe an extra line can be added?

Where is Harry casting spells without a wand?
Also, I imagine the time-turner shell as something Harry can open to get to the Time-Turner, and then close after using. So deliberately breaking it should still be possible.

The shell is to prevent accidental damage, not necessarily deliberate..

The brainstate backup idea was one Harry has in MOR, but it is not canon. It might just be an example of Harry being a Flat Earth Athiest.
