Post:
Steven Universe fanfic by yours truly. Steven starts asking questions and using available magical devices to full effect.
Hard-ish Science-Fantasy, Soft-munchkin, and very character-driven.
Now with 12 additional chapters, and almost 40K words, because I am a very fast writer with nothing to do.

This is great. I honestly have no idea what chapter I'm on because the site went down. Really hope it comes back up so I can read the rest!!

I need more. This was satisfying my SU addiction... I'm fiending now. Listening to Stronger Than You on repeat.

Don't worry. I write quickly and voluminously.

You are a cliffhanger-leaving, chapter-spewing machine!
12 chapters in one update!! And relationship drama! Whoo!!!
Great story so far.

Thank you for the high praise :D

Every me is fully me. Every me is fully me.
Hah! My mantra is shorter! :D
[edit] Site is down again. :(
[edit] Site went back up! And cliffhanger :(

The problem is that the Clones are impermanent, and qualitatively different.
And your bitter tears of hanging on my cliffs only makes me stronger. :P
u/FeepingCreature [+1] GCV Literally The Entire Culture (a day later)
Nah, the trick is that you can have a room that contains more than 100% me. So it wouldn't even matter which clone dies, as long as one survives, if we ran on Waves Arisen rules instead - ie. it can defer the decision of which me becomes "final me". Not a practical difference in this scenario, but the lack of clear differentiation might have prevented the weird divergence of this arc.

The problem is that the clones /are/ smoke and mirrors. They dissipate after an hour or two. They can be un-made by the wand. If the wand breaks they disappear. There's a number of other disadvantages too.
Connie herself is still vital. The clones are expendable.
True duplication is so broken it's not even funny. I have to limit my characters in some way, right?
u/FeepingCreature [+0] GCV Literally The Entire Culture (a day later)
No yeah, definitely. But it's like... your mantra "hard-codes" the smoke-and-mirrors-ness.
(Old programmer joke: "No ethical programmer should ever write a routine such as
bombBaghdad(). At the least, the city should be specified as a parameter...")The correct behavior should arise naturally from the fact that some of my selves happen to be ephemeral.

May I remind you that Connie is twelve years old and has no advanced rationalist training? And don't worry. There will be problems.
Who do you think I am?
u/FeepingCreature [+1] GCV Literally The Entire Culture (a day later)
Far from me to imply that what she's doing isn't an impressive bit of self-hacking.
Also: yay... problems... :worries:
u/ArmokGoB [+2] (a day later)
There is nothing preventing her from just making a new mantra and using that for true cloning if she gains that capability, so not really.
u/FeepingCreature [+1] GCV Literally The Entire Culture (a day later)
I agree. Though I'm comparing mantras, not character potential.
u/nerdguy1138 [+3] GNU Terry Pratchett (4 hours later)
I am absolutely loving this story!

/r/Homestuck wants me to watch this show.
/r/anime wants me to watch this show.
Does /r/rational want me to watch this show now?
Fine, dammit. I'll watch the show.

Have fun. You can catch all the goodies at The World of Steven Universe (click the "Episodes (English)" drop-down menu at the top, then "SU (season 1)" and the rest should be obvious. Make sure to have an adblocker.)
u/logrusmage [+2] (a day later)
Yes. Watch. Now. It's amazing. Rebecca Sugar is an Elizer level god of creation.
u/Prezombie [+1] (2 days later)
How much SU should one watch before reading this?

It says in the initial authors note: The plot starts after the episode Reformed in season 2, which is episode 57 overall. Then chapter 9 details modifications to the events of StevenBomb 2.0 (episodes 58–62) and chapter 26 details StevenBomb 3/Week of Sardonyx (episodes 63-67.)
