It looks like either his sand can move absurdly fast (given how Sasuke immediately did the Kai when the barrier was dropped/lifted/whatever) or he can condense particle in the air or something.
Perhaps he could be lured into an area that has a layer of dirt over a bunch of explosive tags.

I assumed Gaara was using his sand-o-kinesis THROUGH the barrier. Move sand near their throats > barrier drops > sand traps throats immediately.

Make a Shadow Clone Henge of Gaara. Henge'd Clones have the characteristics of what they become, according to information we were given earlier in the story. Use the Gaara-clone's Sand Release abilities to stalemate Gaara, use other clones to overwhelm him. Realize that this power allows for instant ability acquisition. Take over the world by default.

Err...what? I've been on the board constantly, I just didn't hear anything happening. I'd been expecting to hear another scheduled time for discussions, or something.
/u/FuguofAnotherWorld, /u/AugSphere, /u/Velorien: I'm fine with FoAW doing background work, although I'd like it to be on a "recommendation" basis instead of on a "requirement" basis. Three authors to coordinate is already a lot -- witness the time it's taking to get started.

Caught up.
I don't like it. The story feels empty, the characters feel empty and each chapter feels like a story in and by itself, with no real flow between them.
Some changes in characterization like Gaara are very interesting, but they are lost in a sea of marionettes.

I think part of that is just the nature of the Chuunin exams (or any tournament arc, really).

It's obvious that we'll still be at Stage 2.5 during the next chapter. So, knowing that these chapters are already written, please let that be the last one. Sakura's chapter, this week was Sasuke's, next is Naruto's. Any other interesting characters that need to be shown, let them take the other half of Naruto's chapter. Any OTHER other characters that haven't been introduced, isn't there a month between stages 2 and 3? That's a whole month of time to introduce characters in. Have 5 chapters of that, if need be. Just let the Forest of Death end.

When the same speaker's dialogue extends across multiple paragraphs, all but the last one omit the closing quote mark.
This took me embarrassingly long to figure out as a child.
