I'm very interested in reading more of Scott's writing (this immediately got added to my RSS reader) but I'm a little iffy on the premise.

I'll admit that I personally feel Ted Chiang has mined out the [](#s ""literal celestial sphere" idea, between "Tower of Babylon" and "Exhalation,"") but I'd love to be proved wrong.

"We choose this literary setting not because it is easy, but because it is hard."
u/dalitt [+2] (14 hours later)
I think plenty remains to do -- both of Chiang's stories are about but there's plenty to say about the social effects of finding out that you live in one.

Everyone has been so kind and encouraging about my short stories that I’m ready to try writing some longer fiction.
About damn time.
u/Darth_Hobbes [+4] Ankh-Morpork Guild of Assassins (16 hours later)
Agreed! Scott's past stuff is up with with Yudkowsky's best, so I'm as hyped for this as I'd be for PBDATB.
u/brandalizing [+1] Reserve Pigeon Army (8 hours later)
For sure going to be keeping up with this. Can't wait to see where it goes.

As much as I enjoyed the premise... I really enjoyed the OMENs. I giggled more and more at each one.

I only hope it won't be filled with paranoid reactionary crap, like Scott's blog posts.
u/VorpalAuroch [+1] Life before Death (3 days later)
Name three examples of Scott's "paranoid reactionary crap", please.
u/None [+0] (4 days later)
I'm not gonna get bothered looking for specific posts, but it's hard to call saying that calling a conservative movement racist also means you're a potential murderer, or believing the ess-jay-double-yoos are infiltrating geek culture to make fun of twue nerds, anything else than paranoid reactionary crap.
u/VorpalAuroch [+1] Life before Death (5 days later)
If you cannot produce three specific examples, then we have no reason to believe you're not just bullshitting and taking shit out of context.
Which, from what you said, you do appear to be.
u/None [+0] (5 days later)
lol fine, i could get you specific quotes but you're too conceited to make me want to talk to you, bye
u/VorpalAuroch [+1] Life before Death (5 days later)
Put up or shut up, punk.
