Of the four "sciences" mentioned in the description, one of them isn't a science, one of them probably isn't capable of generating accurate predictions, and they seem to have completely ignored any sort of biology. So, that's a good sign /sarcasm.

Bah, biology is just applied physics anyway.
u/Amonwilde [+8] (6 hours later)
And physics is just applied math.
u/causalchain [+8] (10 hours later)
And math is just applied logic
u/serge_cell [+9] (11 hours later)
And logic is applied topology (Homotopy type theory). Loop is closed now.
u/xamueljones [+10] My arch-enemy is entropy (13 hours later)
Bah! All of science is just applied philosophy!
u/crivtox [+5] Closed Time Loop Enthusiast (a day later)
All of philosophy its just the output algorithms running in people's brains . So its applied cs. Which is just applied math , whith its just applied logic which is just philosophy.

and math is just physics stripped of everything that makes it apply to the real world

I think I hate you :P

And psychology is applied biology, and sociology is applied psychology, what's your point?

The book is actually really good. You'll have to read it to know what he means.

It's science fiction novel. If the author stated that toe nails were a scientific discipline, then for all intents and purposes they would be within the context of said book.
I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of the genre.
u/EthanCC [+1] (2 months later)
So long as you follow the scientific method, studying toe nails is a science. "Science" has a definition, logic does not fit that definition. It is literally not a science.
