Consider that Mr.Yudkowski CH 122 spoiler I'll try to read and leave reviews on all spinoffs that are attempted and shared, and I'm down to bounce ideas and drafts. This seems like a golden opportunity to dip toes into rational/rationalist writing.

cough Following the Phoenix, because it's a good story Squiring the Phoenix, because Eliezer's pants belong in Washington D.C., damnit! Team Anko, because Anko is awesome

Ye, I am aware of these marvellous compositions. But with the Harry Potter & Lord Voldemort story complete, there's now a sandbox world of a rational universe that can be explored in any way desired. One could have humanist, rational but non-rationalist rebels fighting against a utilitarian dictator Hermione, the political career of the Girl Who Revived could be a story, or one could spin a tale of a super-powered unicorn Heroine wandering the earth, doing moral deeds and scratching lethifolds. It's like we finished the main campaign in Skyrim, and we can now do whatever we want.

or one could spin a tale of a super-powered unicorn Heroine wandering the earth, I am very onboard wth this as long as it doesn't involve sparkly vampires.

I'd love to see a short story about Hermione wandering the earth like a restless kung-fu master.
u/eaglejarl [+2] *
I'd offer to write it but apparently I can't write short stories -- I can do ~flash fiction (around 500 words) and I can do novellas, but I seem to suck at being in the middle.

System.out.print("Hermione: "); while(dead(Hermione) == false && wandering_earth(Hermione) == true) System.out.print("ORA! "); System.out.println(""); System.out.println("Hermione sparkled, because she's a
Sparkly Unicorn PrincessRipple Master!");

Your third link is the same as your second.
u/eaglejarl [+1] *
Thanks; fixed.
u/itisike [+2] Dragon Army*
They aren't the same now, but the third is still wrong.
u/eaglejarl [+1] *
Damnit. Okay, fixed for real.

So if Harry ever dies, Hermione will become eternal Chief Warlock?
u/None [+17] *
This is the start of a rationalist "North Korea"-style Magical Britain with a Benevolent Eternal and Supreme Chief Warlock Sparkling Unicorn Princess.

To quote someone from /r/hpmor: "The sun never sets on the Sunshine Empire!"
u/EliezerYudkowsky [+8] Godric Gryffindor*
The sunshine will last forever!
u/None [+2] *
Nightmare Hermione sounds like fun. But I also feel like we're really obligated to cast Holy and free her from the Nightmare's evil grasp. Bugger.

Lay the seas and mountains / under azure heavens / bow now citizens / unto the Throne of Light! Rise now royal Sun, a new world beguuun! Tremble at the sight, the eternal light!

Of course someone wrote and performed a minor rock-opera about that whole bit of fictional history. And unless I missed quite a lot, they animated it themselves, too. Also, all the jokes about Luna being really bad at socializing are now really obvious. Who the hell shows up to a party in a magically-enhanced Grim Reaper costume designed to closely imitate the real thing?
u/2-4601 [+1] *
That's actually an adaption of an already existing MLP rock opera, Moonrise. You can find it on YT or Bandcamp if you want.
u/None [+3] *
existing MLP rock opera The world contains many surprising things.

And it's good! Which is why I love it despite not watching the show. If you want to be surprised you should see something else that got the pony treatment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHO199zTszs

Shit.
u/JackStargazer [+6] Primordial Apologist*
Dear Princess Hermionia...
u/None [+4] *
And the answer came, "Do your homework!". That was the only answer that ever came.

Insert Sunshine Regiment song here
u/eaglejarl [+1] *
So, what was the quest that Harry had for Hermione?
u/EDSorow [+2] *
u/eaglejarl [+3] *
Oh, I thought that was already done? ....oh, wait
u/JackStargazer [+3] Primordial Apologist*
Yeah, that's also why he is not telling her she is immortal, so that she believes her life is in danger when she goes, and decides to go anyway, which calls the phoenix.
u/kaukamieli [+2] *
He does not know how horcruxes work with dementors.
u/JackStargazer [+1] Primordial Apologist*
Doesn't really matter in this case, as if she can cast the True Patronus Charm the Dementors will not even notice her as they die. The risk of death comes from the loss of life energy or whatever the equivalent is in HPMOR!Core, and that would likely have no issue vis a vis Horcrux.
u/kaukamieli [+1] *
Well, that's somewhat true. Still, she actually has to manage casting the spell against the dementors.
