Wow. I didn't see that coming.

Ch. 50

Ch. 50 Speculation

2YE Reason

Possibility

[Edit:] (#s "My second point is proven(enough to count without the author saying no) in Chapter 2: 'You must be from a dimension with an incompatible mystic framework. One of those point based ones, maybe?'")

u/eaglejarl [+1] (6 hours later)

Your second point is, in point of fact, correct.

Quote from your 'Ch. 50' entry:

Sure seems that way, doesn't it? ;)

Ch. 50

[Edit, second thoughts](#s "still hoping that's not possible, considering the implied rule of people being unique and non-duplicatable at the soul level, but then my new guess would be some kind of projection or directly controlled golem. If PAO is allowed to create "A human lich with skill levels x, y, and z", that would be nearly as broken as template abuse.")

u/eaglejarl [+1] (12 hours later)

Rest assured, PAO cannot do that. Which doesnt' mean that the truth is comforting.

Question

u/aeschenkarnos [+3] (6 hours later)

Pro: He's affected by magic.

Con: RAW specifically states that Diplomacy doesn't work on PCs.

u/ulyssessword [+1] (an hour later)

I don't think so. He breaks enough rules that he should be affected as if by earth-physics.

u/Evilness42 [+2] And even myth is long forgotten... (2 hours later)

By 'breaks enough rules' do you mean 'exploits enough loopholes' or 'game rules do not apply to him'? If it's the first, godly intervention might mess him up, but if it's the second, I don't see how it's a problem.

Wait, I just thought of a second point. Does he count as a PC or NPC? Explanation

Edit: I misread your reply so mine looks like a counterargument for the side you're arguing against, but I believe that my point still stands.

u/ulyssessword [+2] (2 hours later)

The game rules do not apply to him. For example, he treats command words for magic items as words (not a 6 second action), so it's likely that he treats words coming from a diplomacy attempt as merely words.

Also, he's probably a player character (and therefore immune) and might not even have D&D attitudes towards people.

The intelligence upgrade works, and the mind rewrite also worked, so it seems like magic by others does still affect him. I'm not sure of PC's are de jure affected by diplomacy/bluff/etc. rolls, but we did play it like that in the few games I've been in.

Those are all explicitly magic though. Diplomacy is a mundane skill, so I'd put it in the same category as people passing through each other while moving, or him running out of stamina.

I'm not sure of PC's are de jure affected by diplomacy/bluff/etc. rolls,

I don't think they are. Diplomacy checks are explicitly for NPCs.

u/eaglejarl [+1] (6 hours later)

Correct. Diplomacy only affects NPCs.

u/Evilness42 [+1] And even myth is long forgotten... (3 hours later)

In that case: What might happen in Ch. 51 Anyways, thanks for answering my question.

u/PeridexisErrant [+1] put aside fear for courage, and death for life (19 hours later)

Unfortunately the latter seems pretty likely, given the background.

u/Nepene [+1] (22 hours later)

A very good chapter, and much fun.
